7 Healthy Meal Delivery Services To Try Instead of Meal Prep

If you are a busy working professional or student, then you know it can be extremely difficult to set aside time for meal prep or to eat healthy. Quarantine may have gotten us closer to our kitchens because we never leave our house. But if you don’t know what to cook or how to think about putting together healthy meals, it can all be very overwhelming.

And when you have a work deadline or an important meeting to prep for, the last thing you want to think about is how healthy your meal is. You just want to eat and move on to the next task.

But eating health, real, nutritious food can unlock a multitude of positive benefits; an increase of energy, better mental health and wellbeing, and a boost of confidence. In fact, if you would like to learn more about these benefits, check out my ebook — Eat Your Way To Self-Confidence.

For this week’s post, I wanted to offer up several healthy meal delivery services that will send you weekly, pre-thought out, healthy meals that you can cook under 30 minutes. They are fast, delicious and nutritious.

HUNGRYROOT

Pros: Vegan/vegetarian friendly meals + delivers groceries + free shipping

Hungryroot is one of my personal favorites. It used to just be a meal delivery service. But more recently they have become an online grocery company that prioritizes sending real, healthy and good-for-you groceries. You still have the option of getting sent delicious pre-determined meals, but now you also have more a-la-carte flexibility.

You have the option of choosing a small box ($69.00), medium box ($99.00), large box ($129.00), or a customized box that is sent to your house weekly with all of the ingredients and instructions you need to put your meals together. Shipping is always free.

Best of all, you get to customize your deliveries. Every week, they will send you a breakdown of what you are getting, and you can decide to swap out certain meals/groceries to fit your taste.

And whenever they add new groceries to their site, you will have the option of rating how often you would like certain items featured in your deliveries.

Two things that I love most about Hungryroot are their vegan/vegetarian friendly meals and their in-house products. They make a chickpea almond flour cookie dough that is vegan and tastes divine. I also recently fell in love with their coconut curry sauce.

HelloFresh

Pros: Student and Healthcare Worker Discounts

HelloFresh Meal Delivery

HelloFresh is a weekly meal delivery service that will send you healthy ingredients to prepare fresh meals in under 30 minutes. You get to choose the meals you want to make and they will mail you the ingredients and the recipes. Meals start at $8.99 per serving and have the option to skip or pause deliveries whenever you want with this service.

I have not tried HelloFresh myself, but what really stood out to me about their service is that they are very student budget friendly. They offer students a 15% off discount on every delivery and free shipping on the first delivery.

They are also offering an amazing discount at the moment for healthcare workers. They can get 50% off their first box and 15% off the rest of their deliveries for a year.

Blue Apron

Blue Apron is a weekly meal delivery service that will send you healthy ingredients to prepare fresh meals. Specifically, they partner with farmers to deliver the highest-quality ingredients. Meal cook times seem to vary, but most clock in at around 35 min or less.

Meals start at $8.99 per serving and prices vary based on whether or not you order a 2 serving or 4 serving box.

I have not tried Blue Apron myself, but just looking at their menu options, this brand seems like it would great for those with a more sophisticated taste. You can even order wine from their wine delivery service to compliment your meals.

Right now, they are offering $22.50 off of your first 4 deliveries (including wine).

Daily Harvest is a weekly meal delivery service that has a plant-based focus. Similar to Hungryroot, they offer 3 purchasing plans that feature a number of pre-assembled meal cups and they always offer free shipping. Meals range from $5.99 to $8.99 and they also offer a flexible delivery schedule.

The most notable difference is that with the largest plan (24 items) you are allowed to get either weekly or monthly deliveries. And depending on the box size that you choose for your first order, you also score a discount that can range between $20-$35 off.

I have not tried Daily Harvest, but of the meal options I have seen, this would be a really great service for someone that likes superfood smoothies and grain bowls.

Green Chef

Pros: Eco-friendly + prepped ingredients + keto/paleo friendly

Green Chef.jpg

Green Chef is a weekly meal delivery service that features organic, non-GMO ingredients that are pre-cut and measured along with pre-made sauces, marinades, and spice blends. Their goal is to create fast, fresh meals in 30 minutes or less. So, this service would be most ideal for those that have time constraints and need to be in and out of the kitchen quickly.

The also package all their meals in eco-friendly packaging. I have not tried Green Chef, but I noticed on their website that they have keto and paleo meal options.

Prices vary based on the number of people you are feeding and how many meals a day you are interested in purchasing, but will range somewhere between $10-11 per serving. Right now, they are offering $90 off your first 4 deliveries.

Territory Foods

Pros: No refined sugars, gluten or dairy based meals + ready-to-eat meals

Territory Foods.jpeg

Territory Foods can either be a 4-week program or a custom meal subscription crafted by local chefs and on-staff health experts. Unlike the other services mentioned, they send you ready-to-eat meals every week for 4-weeks. At the end of the 4 weeks, you can either renew for another 4 weeks or cancel. Their goal is to help you reset your eating habits, control your diet and stay on track with your new healthy eating journey.

They also feature a diverse array of meal options such as paleo, keto, and Whole30.

Prices start at $10.95 per meal and right now they are offering $75 off your first 3 orders and free shipping. This service would also be most ideal for people that need to be in and out of the kitchen quickly.

I have not tried Territory Foods, but I am really drawn into the fact that all of their meals are made without gluten, refined sugars and dairy. However, they cannot be certified as gluten, dairy or allergen free because the meals are prepped in a kitchen where these foods are present.
