My New Go-To Red Lipstick For Fall (Colors & Curves)

Hello my beautiful queens, and HAPPY FALL!

‘Tis the season of gorgeous and amazing colors. Fall is by far my favorite season simply because of all the colors. I heart all the different shades of reds, oranges, and yellows that appear in autumn. All these rich, vibrant, and bold colors GIVE ME LIFE! With that said, let’s get into this week’s topic: L-I-P-S-T-I-C-K!

Now, for those that know me, they know I am absolutely obsessed with lipsticks. I don’t leave home without it. I’m on a first name basis with the sale associates at my local Sephora. Plus, I’ve run out of fingers and toes to count on for the amount of lipsticks I have. It’s a legitimate compulsion, but I’m proud of it.

Another reason, why I like fall is because it marks the beginning of the school year. And what does that mean? Back to school SHOPPING (FYI I’m an elementary school teacher)! So this year, when I started my back to school shopping for: classroom materials, clothes, and shoes, I decided to add in one more category. A back to school fall lipstick, and gurls the one I purchased is EVERYTHING!

I bought a Pat McGrath Lab Matte Trance Lipstick. The color is Elson 2 - fiery orange red. This lipstick is the perfect shade of autumn. It makes my melanin radiate and glow. It also puts a another level of sass in my sache. If you could see me right now I’m giving this snaps in a Z formation.

Now, on the other hand, it was a struggle trying to get this fabolishous lipstick home. Picture it, Boston 2018 in September at the Prudential building:  I went to the best place on earth to buy makeup, SEPHORA! I walked in and one of the sales associates asked me if I needed help find anything. I told her I wanted a lipstick that was some shade of red, and that I wanted to try brands outside of my usual norms, but I didn’t know where to start. The employee showed me 3 different colors: 1 from YSL, 1 from Buxom, and 1 from Pat McGrath. I tried on each one. I automatically fell in love with the Pat McGrath one, so I brought my giddy ass up to the register and purchased my lipstick. I felt like a winner.

Then the next day, I got dressed and went to the mirror to put on my new lipstick, but there was a huge problem. When I looked in the mirror and saw my lips, I realized the employee gave me the wrong lipstick. I was pissed! So, I marched on down to Sephora again and told the first employee I saw about the lipstick mix up. The new employee helped me find the correct lipstick, and then I went home.

However, the next day it was like deja vu. I went to the mirror and put on my lipstick and AGAIN the sales associate gave me the wrong f%#@ lipstick. I was so mad that this mix up happened again that I was talking myself out of knocking down every makeup display in the store. I was ready to go ALL THE WAY LEFT. However, Jesus snatched me up real quick and was like: you sure you want to be the crazy black girl that lost her $h&# in Sephora?

I was like, maybe…

Then he said, so today’s the day you’re going to jail? I was like, NOPE.

So, I calmed my black ass down, and walked into Sephora with a stank face and hella attitude. When 3rd new associate asked me if I needed help, I said no thanks, not today. I was done with assistance. I was gonna get this lipstick my damn self. And I sure the F did. I triple checked that it was the correct lipstick, AND put it on in the store. I wasn’t playing no games this time.

Finally, I got my lipstick. And, I love this lipstick so much that I would actually say it was worthy all this damn trouble.

What is your favorite fall lipstick, Queens? Let me know in the comments!
